Throughout his career, Dr Laurence has seen first-hand how stressful, frustrating and inconvenient routine visits to the vet can be. Whether it be just physically getting to the vet, the stress of the waiting room, or unforeseen costs. Whatever the reason is Dr Laurence strongly believes in being open and honest with clients, and what better environment to do this but in the comfort and convenience of your home or work-place. At First Paw we believe our role as a vet is to assess your little buddy and then discuss all options with your pet’s wellbeing our number one priority.
Dr Abby - First Paw Associate
Dr Abby joined the First Paw team in 2023 after working at various small animal clinics across Melbourne. Her area of interest is senior and palliative care, with a passion for helping clients with that final good-bye. Dr Abby is available for consultations on Wednesdays and Saturdays with our nurse Bec, offering services including compassionate home euthanasia, senior pet consultations including pathology screening, as well as general check-ups.

Wasn't sure what to expect with the mobile vet - but I thought it was worth a shot. Going to the vet used to be such an ordeal with 2 x adult rottweiler x french mastiffs - I would have to take them separately, and would be so nervous about whether there would be other pets in the small lobby, etc. In contrast, Dr Laurence came to our house (this was outside his normal area, but for a small fee didn't mind coming). He called in advance and took time to understand what my concerns were. He was very up front about any limitations that home visits offer (he obviously doesn't have all the testing and facilities of a normal vet). However - i was willing to give it a go. The day of the visit, we did one dog at a time in the carport (COVID-19), and he was very thorough with their examinations. He noticed issues my previous vet hadn't and was also was able to take some samples of some suspicious looking lumps (which he then sends away for fast testing), and meant I didn't have to get this done in-house at a vet. I liked the fact he was very detailed - didn't shrug off any of my concerns. Dr Laurence has a positive attitude and a really laid-back, friendly demeanour. He was good with the dogs, and very generous with his time. He followed up to see how the dogs were going, and called to explain the results a few days later. Would definitely recommend First Paw...general health checks can be done in the ease of your own home - and if your pets need follow up care in-house at a vet clinic, he'll advise on where to go/and what to request.
Dr Laurence has treated both my staghound cross Barkley and my pointer cross Evie. Evie is a rescue and not that keen on men but she came around to Dr Laurence. Thanks so much.
Amazing service by Dr Laurence. This was my first time using a mobile vet for my new puppy and I was extremely happy I did. I got my puppy during the COVID-19 distancing rules, and was pleased to find First Paw Mobile Vet could come to my house so I could be with my puppy while he got his exam and vaccination. They were diligent about wearing a mask & gloves, hand washing, keeping distance from me as much as possible, and keeping the time in my home short, to minimise risk to me and my household, as well as the community. Dr Laurence was thorough, professional and friendly.
Revelation! With a very sweet but highly reactive rescue terrier (Peach) we have had some less than ideal vet experiences. Laurence was keen to understand Peach and her behaviour and took the time to get to know her and strategise with me how to give her the vaccination. I can safely sat this is the best vet experience Peach has ever had.

Laurence and his mobile vet service has been a God-send. I have a three year old cat who is very skittish and ran away for five days last time I took him to the vet. Upon arrival, Laurence stayed in his car and called me so we could work out our strategy re Laurence coming into the house and Gavin my cat being in the right spot where he couldn’t hide or cause harm to Laurence or myself. Laurence was so understanding about my stress levels and the stress levels of Gavin and we worked together to make it a successful visit and I was thrilled to have my furry boy vaccinated for another year. He also had a quick look at my puppy dog’s teeth and confirmed its time to have them cleaned. Thank you Laurence, I will be making you a firm part of my furry family.
